Welcome! We’ve taken our time to plant these digital seeds properly, because we wanted to grow a space that feels as sturdy and as rooted as the drystone-walls lining our fells. You’ve been patient while we tended to the soil, ensuring that our new website reflects the strengths of our community and the rugged beauty of the North - which we love spending time in together. We didn't want to rush a generic page that felt hollow, so we waited until we could offer you a home that truly fits the rhythm of our life together - and inspired spiritually, visually, and hopefully helps you connect with our community.
GATHER for us is intrinsically about time spent on the move, though not in haste, stretching our legs across the fells and through fields on pilgrimage, or finding a moment of deep peace in a hidden valley during a wellbeing retreat. We knew that for GATHER to truly serve you, we needed a practical tool that allows you to book these moments easily without the clutter of endless email threads or paper lists. This new home finally lets you secure your spot with a simple, secure payment, leaving you free to focus on the soul-work of the journey ahead rather than the admin behind it. Our GATHER admin, Sheila, is particularly happy about this as she's formerly been the person looking after all of our bookings directly!
GATHER remains at its core, a dispersed microchurch, a living network that breathes with the heartbeat of the land rather than the walls of a central building. We follow a simple, ancient cycle where we walk the path to notice God’s presence in the wind and the heather, then gather in the warmth of local homes to share bread and messy, beautiful stories, as well as to study God's Word and to encourage each other. Once we’ve been fueled by the fire and the company of friends, we scatter back into our rural villages to tend the ground where we stand, and love our neighbours well.
This website is the digital map for that very physical, earthy journey we’re taking together across the fells and the fields.
You can explore our upcoming walks, find our next litter pick, retreat or partnership work day - or simply sit a while with the stories from our community and the visuals of our rhythms of church experienced so far. We’ve built this specifically for everyone who loves being amongst nature as well as community, and we’ve built it to last, so come in and find your place in the rhythm.
