Safeguarding at GATHER

Keeping you safe.

We take safeguarding seriously at every gathering, walk, home and venue connected to GATHER.

GATHER is a micro-church network founded in the Diocese of Durham. We follow the Church of England’s Promoting a Safer Church policy.

Our Commitment

  • Protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Create spaces where you can worship, walk, and share life safely.
  • Listen when you speak up.
  • Act quickly when concerns are raised.
  • Work with the Diocese of Durham and statutory services when needed.
How We Work
  • Safely recruit volunteers and leaders.
  • Train our teams in safeguarding.
  • Risk assess our gatherings, walks, retreats and events.
  • Review safeguarding regularly with our leadership and trustees.

Reporting a Concern

If you are worried about someone’s safety, please act. You do not need proof. A concern is enough.

1. Immediate Danger

Call 999 straight away. Then, as soon as you can, tell our Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) or the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA).

2. No Immediate Danger

Write down what you are worried about (dates, times, places). Do not investigate yourself or promise to keep secrets. Contact our PSO or DSA as soon as possible.

Your concern will be taken seriously. We will listen. We will respond.
